UCM serves ultimatum to Delhi to cancel Muivah's trip

Imphal, May 18, 2010: Serving an ultimatum to the Government of India to cancel all the programmes related to the proposed visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah to Manipur within May 20, UCM has announced its decision of declaring public emergency with effect from May 21 if it fails to do so.

This was announced by UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar during a protest rally cum public meeting here today.

The protest rally cum public meeting was organised by UCM as part of its mass protest demonstration to denounce the proposed visit of NSCN (IM) general secretary Th Muivah to Manipur.

Participated by around 1000 people including representatives of various civil organisations, the rally was taken out from THAU ground till DM College.

From there the rallyists converged at the THAU ground where the public meeting was held.

Civil organisations whose representatives were present at the occasion include Tarung Women Welfare Association (Tarung Khul), Namthanglong Muji Khul, AMKIL, Macha Leima, Lainingthou Yanggoi Ningthou Meira Paibi Lup (Porompat), Konung Manung Nupi Kanglup (Thangapat Mapal), Wangkhei Yonglan Nupi Lup, Majorkhul Matheim Mai Form, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai Women Association, Uripok Khumanthem Leikai Apunba Nupi Lup, Yambem Leikai Uripok, Achom Leikai Uripok, Thangkham Awang Leikai Women Association, Thangkham Makha Leikai Chaokhat Nupi Lup, Wangoi Thiyam Leikai, Thangmeiband Sinam leikai, Tabung Pukhri Mapal Meira Paibi, Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai, Thangmeiband DM College Gate THAU Meira Paibi, etc.

After the rally, the public meeting was held with UCM president Yumnamcha Dilipkumar, UCM advisor RK Ranendrajit and former UCM president Sapamcha Jadumani as presidium members.

Addressing the meeting, Yumnamcha Dilipkumar announced that UCM would be declaring a public emergency from May 21 if the Government of India does not cancel all the programmes related to the proposed visit of Muivah to Manipur within May 20. He also called upon the people to stay alert and in unity against any attempt to break apart the territorial integrity of Manipur.

In his address, Jadumani pointed out that all the communities in Manipur are against the proposed visit of Muivah to Manipur.

He also decried the permission given by the Government of India to the proposed visit of Muivah.

RK Ranendrajit said that the territorial integrity of Manipur cannot be compromised at any cost.

While appreciating the stand of the Government of Manipur to bar the entry of Muivah to Manipur, he also came out strongly against the decision of the Government of India to allow Muivah to visit Manipur.
