Imphal, May 16, 2010: The people in Tamenglong district are now heavily depending on the lamei-Tening road to transport essential commodities from Dimapur, reports NNN.

The transporters mostly carry rice from Dimapur to Tamenglong district via Peren district of Nagaland.

It is worth noting that the distance from Tamei in Tamenglong district to the nearest Nagaland village is just 30 kilometers and it has been for years now that a good number of taxis have been plying this link road.

Once the Barak Bridge is built, Tamei-Tening road will be the shortest road to reach Dimapur from lmphal.

The food stock in Tamenglong district depleted after the imposition of counter blockade by the people in the Manipur valley.

As the counter blockade continues in lmphal, the hill district of Ukhrul too depends on the other roads that connect Nagaland without touching lmphal.

The Chandel people in turn opt for the roads that link the district to Ukhrul so that essential commodities can be transported without passing lmphal.
