Imphal, July 27: Following confirmation of bird flu virus in the samples of a poultry farm in Chingmeirong and subsequent official culling of fowls within 5 kms radius of the farm, private sale, transportation / movement of poultry birds and their meat have been banned in Bishnupur district with immediate effect, said a notification issued by DC Bishnupur district Aleng AS Shimray while adding that the SP Bishnupur district has also been directed to enforce the ban in the entire district.

Meanwhile, the Imphal Municipality, in an effort to contain spread of bird flu, has imposed total ban on transportation /movement of poultry, poultry meat and other poultry products within Imphal Municipal area with immediate effect, conveyed a release issued by the Executive Officer of IMC.

As a precautionary measure against bird flu, the Karong-Senapati Town Committee has also banned chickens, eggs and other domesticated fowls brought from other parts of the State and beyond in the area/town with immediate effect.
