SPF Govt flayed for freeing captive IM men

Imphal, October 13: Various organizations have down heavily on Ibobi led SPF Government for having released the 13 armed NSCN (I-M) leaders without any condition and taking recourse to law of the land.

Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK), has asserted that the decision of the SPF Government to set free all the 13 armed NSCN (I-M) leaders who sneaked in to the territory of Manipur was a direct affront to the wishes of the people as well as violation of the Indian Constitution.

In a statement, publicity secretary of the women's organization H Vitishwori Chanu alleged that the decision has confirmed the apprehension of the people that the Government cares anything about protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur.

Continuing its tirade, the women's body also demanded that curfew should be lifted immediately.

All Manipur Women's Action Committee, in another statement strongly contended that imposition of curfew by the Government has hit the daily wage earners the worst and demanded lifting of curfew.

Meanwhile, Patsoi Kendra Development Council has accused the Chief Minister of being two-pronged tongue and misleading the people on the issue of reported arrested and subsequent release of the 13 armed NSCN (I-M) leaders who sneaked into the territorial of Manipur in violation of the ceasefire ground rule.

In a statement, Council also flayed the Government imposition curfew on and off to muffle the voice of resentment of the people and various political parties trying to take maximum mileage out of the whole issue.

Instead of trading charges, all the political parties and politicians should bring their heads together to ensure that the territorial integrity of the State is preserved.

If they are not in a position to do so then all of them should apologize to the people for their false promises made during election time, the Council said.

Mayang Imphal Khuman Youth Assn has also flayed the Govt for releasing the 13 captive NSCN (I-M) leaders and imposition curfew to throttle the public from raising their voice.

Joining in the chorus of condemning the Govt for its decision to set free the 13 NSCN (I-M) leaders, North Imphal United Clubs and Meira Paibees Organization has called upon the people to defeat the evil design of divisive forces.

Describing imposition of curfew not only an attempt to find escape route for mistake committed by releasing the thirteen NSCN (IM) Bishnupur district council of AISF flayed the SPF Government for throttling the democratic movement of the people.

A press release of the student organization desired that instead of cowing down to central pressure time has come for consultation with the people to thwart sinister design plotted by the Govt of India at the behest of the NSCN (IM) to disintegrate Manipur's territory.

Khwairamband Nupi Keithel Sinpham Amadi Saktam Kanba Lup also condemned the sudden imposition of curfew and bursting of tear-gas yesterday to foil proposed peaceful demonstration of the people against the release of 13 NSCN (IM) members as well as to demand clear cut status of the ceasefire limits.

Condemning the release and imposition of curfew All Manipur Muslim Organizations' Coordinating Committee extended its support to any agitation for safeguarding the territorial integrity of Manipur.
