Imphal, October 05 2009: Protesting over the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar incident, a torch rally was taken out from Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai to MU Gate tonight.

The torch rally was taken out in response to the call of the Apunba Lup which is spearheading the ongoing public movement demanding punishment of the involved police commandos and resignation of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on moral ground.

Earlier during the day, members of New Checkon Bazar Women Welfare Association and Kiyamgei Khagi Apunba Meira Paibis Lup staged protest demonstration and carried out poster campaign in connection with the July 23 incident at New Checkon Bazar and Khagi Bazar at Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai respectively.
