Keibi residents step up night vigil

Imphal, July 26: As follow up action of the incident yesterday in which the vigilant public of Keibi Heikak Mapal rounded up four kidnappers and rescued a young boy from their clutches, the Meira Paibis of the area have decided to step up vigil at night to prevent any possible attempt of kidnapping children.

A Wakat Meepham was staged today demanding immediate stop of kidnapping young children for recruitment as child soldiers.

The vigilant public of the area had rescued a 13-year old boy identified as Maibam Dhanachandra from being kidnapped by four persons.

The kidnappers were also rounded up and after a good thrashing handed them over to the police.

After the incident, a public meeting held last night have decided to step up vigilant at night time by Meira Paibis to prevent recurrence of kidnapping children and to convey to the parents to drop and pick up their children to and from schools.

The protest demonstration held at the ground of Ringo Club at Keibi Heikak Mapal from 11 am to 4 pm was also attended by a large number of students and their parents.
