Tamenglong, May 25 2010: The Committee on Political Affairs (COPA), Tamenglong today convened a public meeting with the Naga Parliamentarians here at Community Hall, United Baptist Church (Liangmei), Tamenglong and unanimously resolved three point resolutions.

The Zeliangrong community heartily welcome the seven Naga MLAs who had submitted resignation letters to the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly recently against the state cabinet decision to ban Thuingaleng Muivah's visit to his native village Somdal in Ukhrul District of Manipur and against the MDC election in hill districts of Manipur.

Among the leaders who attended the meeting were former MP Mani Charenamei, Awangbou Newmai, Dr Khasim Ruivah, Soso Lorho and Benjamin Banee.

Hundreds of social leaders, representatives of women organisations and NGOs took part in the meeting today.

The meeting unanimously resolved to welcome and invite Th Muivah to visit Tamenglong district.

It also resolved to carry out poster/slogan campaign in support of the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process.

A chain of prayer would be held to pray for the final settlement of the Indo-Naga issue under the aegis of Zeliangrong Baptist Church Council North East India (ZBCCNEI).

Further, the meeting reaffirmed to denounce the present form and content of the Manipur (Hill Areas) District Council Act 2008 and asked the people to abstain from participation, stated the resolution.

On the other hand, the Zeliangrong Students' Union Tamenglong District, ZSUTD and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Tousem area has complained to the DC Tamenglong that the Chief Medical Officer of Tamenglong has not been posted yet.

It is said that Dr L Sharat Chandra Singh of Imphal West was posted as CMO in Tamenglong on April 9 last, but he has not reported to the district.

If the doctor does not report for duty soon, the ZSU will take up appropriate actions.

The ZSU would urge the authority concerned to make the present CMO in-charge the full fledged CMO of Tamenglong District Hospital for the welfare and proper functioning of the district hospital.
