Imphal, May 24 2010: Even as the State Governent has rolled up its sleeves to ensure a free, fair and peaceful first phase election to the ADCs on May 26, disgruntled voices of protest, especially from the Naga tribes, continue unhindered, with many intending candidates still announcing through the media that they have withdrawn from the election.

Additional Deputy Commissioner DEO, Kangpokpi has informed that for all the polling officials of Sadar Hills special buses will ply from Khuyathong Pukhri Mapal to Kangpokpi on May 25 at 7 am.

Issuing a notice in this regard, the Additional Deputy Commissioner/DEO, Kangpokpi H Rupachandra Singh has asked the polling officials to report for duty before 9 am on May 25 failing which disciplinary action will be initiated against the defaulting officials.

Meanwhile, in an office memorandum, Deputy C/DEO, of Senapati, Nidhi Kesarwani has informed that earlier appointment of some presiding officers/polling officers have been replaced.

Accordingly, W Nabakumar, MHW/CMO Senapati has been appointed as the presiding officer in place of W Priyobarta Singh, AE/PWD, Senapati; S Santosh, MHW/CMO Senapati as polling officer no.I in place of RK Joykumar Singh, Insp/Co-op, Senapati; Y Oken Singh, MHW/CMO Senapati as polling officer no.2 in place of Ch Dhanachandra, AAO/Hort & SC, Senapati and Y Sharat Kumar, MHW/CMO, Senapati as Polling officer no.2 in place of Y Boben Singh, RM/TD, Senapati.

The State Government has also declared a public holiday on May 26 in Sadar Hills, Chandel and Churachandpur Autonomous District Councils and June 2 in Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong Autonomous District Councils on account of ADC elections.

Govt employees, bank employees and employees of private sector undertakings serving elsewhere but residents of the six ADCs may avail casual leave on May 26 and June 2 respectively so that they can exercise their franchise, said a notification issued by the Under Secretary (GAD).
