PREPAK claims, clarifies

Imphal, August 28: The proscribed PREPAK claiming that two personnel of the 4/8 Gorkha Rifles were killed and 7 others injured when its cadres attacked the GR's Ningthoukhong ITI post August 26, also contended that injury caused to a civilian was due to indiscriminate firing by the disoriented GR jawans.

A statement issued by secretary in-charge of the outfit's dept of Publicity and propaganda Aheiba Angom recounted that the attack from two different directions was carried out by the Red Army's Cobra Task Force under the command of Boby Mangang during which 7 of the GR men were also seriously wounded.

Regretting injury suffered by a fisherman namely Ningthoujam Marjit, PREPAK nevertheless pointed out that it had already declared its intention of attacking security posts/personnel and left it to the wisdom of the common people to either keep a safe distance from security facility or protest establishment of security post near civilian pockets.

It also conveyed to the public against staging protest demonstrations for the attack or injury caused to civilians.

Rejecting reports, it informed that all its cadres returned to their camp safe and sound.
