Imphal, January 04: The people of Wangjing-Tentha Assembly constituency has decided to boycott all the aspiring candidates of the Assembly elections in the constituency slated in February in case they refuse to spell out their positions clear on the issues of Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act 1958 and the Tipaimukh Project.

The decision to this effect was adopted during a public meeting on AFSPA and Tipaimukh Project held today at Khongjom Bazar.

The meeting also resolved to launch intense agitation against the initiative undertaken by the State Government to construct the Tipaimukh Project.

It also demanded immediate repeal of AFSPA from Manipur.

The meeting was jointly organised by the Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation and United People's Administrative Council.

Another such public meeting held at Kakching Bazar today under the aegis of UPACO adopted a firm stand against construction Tipaimukh Project besides resolving that the draconian AFSPA should be abolished.

Serious deliberations were also made during a public meeting held today at Wabagai Lamkhai Bazar under UPACO on the same issues.

While adopting similar resolutions as in other meetings, it agreed to extend cooperation to movements on the two issues.
