Awareness drive on bird flu

Imphal, January 28: The Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Government of Manipur organised a one-day public awareness campaign on Bird flu (Avian influenza) at Kamjong Development Committee town hall of Ukhrul district today under the chairmanship of T Ramzat, Kamjong Village as chief guest and the chairman of Kamjong Development Committee as guest of honour.

The experts of the Veterinary Directorate delivered lectures on Bird flu and interacted with the villagers including youth leaders, principal and headmasters of local schools.

Altogether 60 persons participated in the campaign.

The team also collected several blood samples of poultry and ducks for monitoring of sero-surveillance of Bird flu.

The village chief and other representatives of the villagers also assured total ban on movement of livestocks, chicks and eggs, etc from neighbouring county Myanmar, according to a statement issued by nodal officer of Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services K Gopal Singh.
