Security beefed up in Moreh

Imphal, March 20: In the wake of the killing of 15 migrant workers in different parts of the State in the last three days, tight security measures have been taken up in the border town of Moreh.

Patrolling exercise in Moreh and surrounding areas has been enhanced and migrant workers have been prevented from venturing out of the border town including Namphalong market of Myanmar.

Moreover, under the aegis of Moreh ADC Th Chothe and SDPO Rameshwar, a joint meeting of all the communities of Moreh was held yesterday during which it was resolved to avert any untoward incident in the border town.

However, normal activity of Moreh town was somewhat affected following closure of shops and stalls owned by non-Manipuris today.

Talking to this correspondent, ADC Th Chothe said that all precautionary measures have been initiated by the civil administration and police.

In case the situation deteriorates and the need to open a relief camp arises, all preparations have been made, he added.

The all community meeting held at Hawa Mahal yesterday decided to stay all the members of each community together without any member scattering away.

Other resolutions of the meeting include putting up extra precautionary measures on the part of police and to prevent migrant workers from venturing outside Moreh town.
