TDC to provide food to passenger on NH-53

Imphal, July 15 2010: A total of 181 vehicles, 166 of them carrying boulders and 15 loaded with crushed stones is leaving on NH-53 on July 17 as continued assistances to the improvement works of the highway by the Transporters' and Drivers' Council (TDC) .

The trucks with the boulder and singling are sending as part of extending corporation to the authority in the ongoing improving works of the highway to make it an accessible road, Ng Haridas of TDC said in a press conference held at its office today.

Earlier, the Council had supplied 147 truck loads of boulder recently as assistance to the effort.

Further supply of the boulder was stopped due to the ANSAM sponsored 72-hour chakka imposed in the hill areas inhabitant by the Nagas, he said.

Haridas also said that considering the grievances faced by the passengers due to deplorable road condition while travelling on the NH-53, the Council also start supplying foods to the passengers.

The plan of the TDC is made considering halting of buses on the road for two to three days owing to the landslide or any other problems surfaced on the highway.
