Imphal, August 06: Holding the Chief Minister solely responsible for the current state of uncertainty, the Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (Chief Association) today said that the root cause of the economic blockade is the declaration of June 18 as State holiday as well as Integrity day.

In a statement, the chiefs association said that it has taken the matter seriously and added that the immature decision taken by the Chief Minister is the reason for the current situation.

Training its guns on the Chief Minister, the chiefs decried the malafide intentions of O Ibobi Singh to create chaos in the State and added that the open support voiced by some NGOs to the June 18 declaration will do nothing except add fuel to the fire and egg on ANSAM to continue with its agitation.

The June 18 declaration will not help in bringing integrity or affect the integrity of the State, added the statement.

Integrity of Manipur can only be maintained through mutual understanding with concern for the interest of every community, it said.

The statement said that there is nothing wrong if the Naga people demonstrate their desire to live under one political entity and added that nothing communal should be read into it.

The present situation is the outcome of the manner in which the Govt has been treating the tribals, it said.

The chiefs also urged the Govt to work out a solution before matter takes a turn for the worse.

CDSU memo: Highlighting lack of medical care infrastructure, Churachandpur District Students union submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on July 28 for necessary perusal and immediate action.
