Dimapur, May 31 2010: Anticipating another round of parleys between RS Pandey and Th Muivah scheduled to be held in Nagaland, the GPRN/NSCN has stated that if the meeting does takes place as reported, "GPRN/NSCN would only hope that the time tested peaceful co-existence between the Meiteis and Nagas of Manipur state would be restored to its rightful position" .

A press note issued by the MIP pointed out that the "Indian delegation and IM should clearly understand that GPRN/NSCN along with the rest of the Nagas in Nagaland state, Eastern Nagas and other states considers that RS Pandey's visit is primarily to resolve the issue between Manipur Government and Nagas of Manipur state represented by Th.Muivah" .

"It is therefore pertinent to note that any issue involving Nagas of Nagaland, Eastern Nagaland and other Naga areas should be left alone.

The meeting should, in no way, be considered as political talks between GOI and the Nagas as it is clearly a localized issue revolving around an individual's visit to his native village in Manipur", stated the MIP.

The GPRN/NSCN believed that "no matter the amount of animosity, hatred and bad blood between Manipur Government and Nagas of Manipur generated recently, emotion should not betray sanity and reason" and that "Meiteis and Nagas of Manipur will co-exist for as long as man walks on earth".

"Naga inhabited areas in Manipur cannot be uprooted and planted in the centre of Nagaland state, Assam or Eastern Nagaland.

Civil Societies, NGO's, intellectuals, community elders etc.

making emotionally unstable speeches at this hour is unwise", the GPRN/NSCN stated while pointing out that "talk of severing all ties with any community is impractical and self defeating".

"Future generation Nagas in Manipur must be given a chance to live in peace and harmony with other communities.

Age old bond, respect for each others rights, customs, traditions must be maintained.

Killings, inflammatory and counterproductive measures should not be the only route to towards seeking objectives", the MIP note stated.
