Imphal, March 28: The Omar Farooque group of PULF has today clarified that it was not behind the killing of Langu Esther alias Ruhi (30) of Charong village and Pashel Snowy alias Julie (27) of Anal Khunou who were shot dead on March 21. In a statement issued to the press, the outfit said that killing women and children can only be the handiwork of gangs no matter the gravity of crime they may have committed.

Such killings do nothing but drive a wedge between the different communities.

The statement said that there is no guarantee that the killings could not have been the handiworks of some gangsters who are masquerading themselves as cadres of PULF and asked the people to be wary of such impostors.

It also urged the public not to view the outfit in the wrong light due to the handiwork of some anti-social elements.

PULF will closely investigate the case and all guilty will be given fitting punishment, assured Farooque.

Informing that as per a resolution adopted during the Special General Conference of the outfit held on March 15, the statement said that the power and authority bestowed on MI Khan alias Siddique (Gen Secy), project officer Ibrahim Kaji and finance secretary Nashir Khan alias Kishorjit alias Chandro have been wrested by chairman Omar Farooque.

The said three have been discharged from the outfit, it claimed.

The outfit added that until an internal reformation is brought about, emergency within the party will continue.
