Imphal, May 12 2010: Putting its record straight in connection with the ongoing indefinite blockade along the two national highways leading to Manipur, the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) on Wednesday clarified that "ATSUM is not related in any way with the blockade' and urged all the organizations or unions from dragging in the tribal students' body's name in connection with the blockade in the state.

ATSUM then cautioned the media houses not to twist news otherwise the tribal students' body will be compelled to take up the issue seriously in a befitting manner deemed fit to them.

While appealing to all concerned authorities and 'peace loving people' not to drag its name unnecessarily into the controversy, ATSUM warned that "if the High Court order against the ATSUM and intimation is not withdrawn then the person filing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) and the state will be held responsible for any untoward incident that may follow" .

Decrying the killing of two youths at Mao Gate on May 6, ATSUM said that it 'condemned in the highest level of brutal killing of two innocent students, N.Chakho Mao and Loshou Mao by the indisciplined state forces'.

Blaming the state security forces for killing and bringing the state into chaos 'without any provocation from peace loving tribals', It urged the Manipur government to bring normalcy to all the tribal areas at the earliest as the people are' facing problems due to the prolonging imbroglio'.

It blamed the present predicament as 'the making of the state and Central governments.
