UG suspects slain

Imphal, July 08: Another two suspected militants were shot dead by 7 AR personnel at Khordak Ichil under Bishnupur PS today.

One .38 revolver was recovered from the possession of the slain persons.

A vehicle suspected to have been hijacked by the UG suspect was found at the site, but it has not been taken away by the security personnel.

Unidentified persons shot dead a youth near a culvert in Kakwa Sorokhaibam Leikai under Singjamei PS at around 11 pm yesterday.

The deceased is identified as one Khoirom Pakpa alias Nganthoi (26) of Heirangoithong Makha Maibam Leikai.

Pakpa was reportedly called out by unidentified persons from his house about 30 minutes before his lifeless corpse was discovered.

The body has been handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

Another UG suspected underground activist was killed in shoot-out with a combined team of Imphal East district police commandos and troops of 32 Assam Rifles at Kyamgei Laphupat area at around 8.25 pm today.

According to police sources, the combined force rushed to Kyamgei Muslim area after getting specific information of presence of PULF activists there.

As the security forces reached that specified location and observed some 6-7 persons moving in a suspicious manner the unidentified persons were asked to halt.

Rather than identify themselves, the UG suspects fired at the security team, said the sources adding that one of the armed activists got killed in retaliatory firing while the others managed to flee taking advantage of darkness.

One 9 mm pistol along with four lives rounds have been recovered from the possession of the deceased person, whose body has been deposited at RIMS morgue.

Meanwhile, body of one Md Feroze Khan (26) s/o Nur Khan of Keikhu Awang Leikai has been claimed by family members on completion of post mortem at RIMS morgue today.

Feroze Khan was gunned down by Imphal East district police commandos at Top Muslim area under Porompat police station on July 6 evening.
