Imphal, March 02: Various social organisations and women bodies have staged sit-in-protest urging for the safe and unconditional release of M Naobi arrested by Thoubal police commandos in the aftermath of February 20 ambush.

A sit-in-protest jointly organised by the Khurai branch of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi, Lamlong Keithel Apunba Lup and Khurai Meira Paibi Apunba Lup was staged at Lamlong Keithel.

The protest ended with various slogans shouted against the atrocities of security forces.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by Poirei Ita Meira Paibi Lup observed that prohibition of sit-in-protest jointly staged by Poirei Leimarol Apunba Manipur, Poirei Ita Meira Paibi Lup, Kanglei Chanura Nameirakpam Leikai Apunba Lup and others by State forces for the second consecutive day today is a clear manifestation of the State Government's dictatorial mindset.

Until and unless, M Naobi is released safely, the women bodies would take active part in all the movements launched by the JAC, it noted.
