Imphal, November 30: After two deferments, the Bharatiya Janata Party Manipur Pradesh is all set to elect its new president on December 5 even as speculations are rife that acting president Dr Haobam Borbabu would be elected as the party's State unit chief.

As per new schedule, obtaining nomination papers and filing of the same would be on December 5 with 8 to 9 am of the poll day set for scrutiny and withdrawal, if any.

A circular issued by the party's returning officer OP Kohli said that to ensure smooth conduct of the poll MR Das would be deputed as the election observer.

According to BJP sources, election of Dr Borbabu for the next term is imminent in view of the State Assembly election slated for early part of next year.

Meanwhile, the BJP Mahila sammelan and session of the party's Yuva Manch earlier scheduled for December 2 and 3 respectively have been postponed to December 9 and 10 in view of the general strike from tomorrow.
