The flag hoisting ceremony will be held at the BJP election office (Outer) Hotel Queen, Tangkhul Avenue, Imphal on March 26 at 9 am.

The candidate will depart to Senapati where a public meeting will be held at the mini Stadium, Senapati.

Newmai News Network reports there is every likelihood that Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi may stick to the NCP-Congress agreement not to send up Congress Candidate in the Outer Parliamentary Seat of Manipur.

Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing told Newmai News Network that till now there had been no information intimated to the MPCC(I) from Sonia Gandhi of which the MPCC(I) leaders had been waiting for the news from New Delhi the whole day today.

Rishang Keishing disclosed that the MPCC(I) had recommended GAD Minister Francis Ngajokpa as its candidate for the Outer Seat but the opinion of Sonia Gandhi had not been intimated to the MPCC(I) till now.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that he did not know the exact reason why things had been pending till now.

Meanwhile the Movement for Tribal Peoples Rights, Manipur (MTPRM), has declared that it would start mobilizing anti-Congress (I) campaign in the hill areas of Manipur.

In a statement the Manipur tribal rights body stated that the Congress (I) led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government of Manipur headed by O Ibobi Singh had been showing indifferent attitude towards the tribal people of Manipur ever since its installment more than two years ago.

The rights body said that three Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between the MTPRM and the SPF government in the early part of 2003 but nothing had been materialized till date.

The rights body said that it would exercise the Right to Freedom of expression rights in campaigning against the Congress party in the hill areas of Manipur by distributing pamphlets and leaflets adding that the MTPRM would also carry out other forms of agitations.

The MTPRM accused the SPP government of Manipur as doing only lip-services towards the tribal people of Manipur and that the tribals had come to know that there had been not a single bone of sincerity shown towards the hill people by the present government led by O Ibobi Singh.

Reminding the three MoUs signed between the two parties, the MTPRM pointed out that the SPF government had agreed to undertake all efforts to fill up vacant posts of teachers in schools under Education(S) Department in the hill districts of Manipur.

The rights body statement further stated that the SPF government had agreed to provide adequate number of teaching staff under Autonomous District Councils.

The MTPRM then stated that the SPF government agreed to provide health infrastructures and specialist doctors in the hill district hospitals.
