Imphal, January 21: After some initial ditherings, the Congress has finally announced the names of its candidates for the second and third phase polling.

Drama and tension marked the day before the list was formally announced late evening today.

Even as Congress Bhawan informed media houses that the list would be despatched soon, the party sent some of its workers to the newspaper offices to withdraw the list, if it had reached the press.

In the case of The Sangai Express, Congress workers seeking to withdraw the said list came before the list reached the press.

There was confusion all over as the said list had already been announced by All India Radio in its 7.30 pm news bulletin.

However the confusion was cleared late in the evening, after the Congress party finally decided to officially announce the list of the candidates.

Sources said that the delay was due to the squabbles in Sagolband AC.
