Imphal, June 12: Barely 12 hours after the shoot out in which two PULF activists killed by a combined force of 32 Assam Rifles and Imphal East Commandos near Phunal Chingthak Water Supply reservoir under Irilbung Police Station last evening, the combined force have gunned down two more PULF activists in yet another shoot out which broke out at Urup Kangthak located atop Phunal hillock early morning today.

The two PULF activists who were killed in the yesterday's shoot out have been identified as Md Atab Ali alias Sana (25) son of Md Ali of Kheikhu Muslim Maning Leikai, who is said to be the district commander of Imphal East of the outfit and Md Dillip (19) son of Amuyai of Irong Chesaba Makha Leikai, Thoubal district.

The other two activists who were killed in the shoot out today are identified as Md Amu alias Feroze (30) s/o Rahimuddin of Irong Chesaba Mathak Leikai and Md Saddam (19) of Irong Chesaba Mayai Leikai.

Talking to mediapersons in this connection at his office room today, OC of Imphal East police Commandos Ksh Manihar said that after the last evening shoot out in which two PULF activists were killed, the combined force remained holed up in the area the whole night following specific information about the presence of some more UGs.

As the combined force was laying in wait to lay ambush on the UGs along all possible routes of escape and waiting for the daybreak to launch a massive search operation in the area, some UGs were seen sneaking out from the village leading to the shoot out.

The site where the shoot out took place was located about 7 kms southeast of Irilbung Police Station.

After the gun-battle which lasted for about half an hour, the two PULF activists were found shot dead, one along the foothill of Urup Kangthak and the other along the bank of Iril river.

One 9 mm pistol loaded with three bullets, one 303 Rifles, two Lethode bombs and five ammunition of AK Rifles have been recovered from the two slain UGs over and above recovery of one 303 Rifles loaded with five rounds of ammunition and one G-3 Rifles loaded with 13 bullets in the last evening's shoot out.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the four slain PULF activists have been taken away by their respective family members after post-mortem examination at RIMS today.
