Imphal, January 08: In the first reported case of election related violence after the announcement of dates of holding the Assembly elections, the MSCP office for Nambol constituency, the home constituency of MSCP president Th Chaoba, was set on fire by unidentified persons today.

However, due to the prompt intervention by the police and the fire brigade, the fire did not cause mush damage, according to police sources.

According to police, this evening at around 5.55 pm, some four or five unidentified persons forced their way into the office, located next to the SDO, Nambol, and set fire to the place after pouring some inflammable substances.

A wooden almirah, two wooden benches, eight plastic chairs, and some party flags were destroyed in the fire, the sources said.
