No Manipur vehicles will pass through Nagaland: UCM, Police team sent

Imphal, September 07: The Government has sent a police team led by Dhruva Mishra DIG to Nagaland to investigate into the Piphema incident which occurred on June 5 morning the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today said.

The government is trying to know the truth from all possible angles he added.

In this age such heinous crime committed is unimaginable he added and condemned the act.

The victim should come out with the truth he observed and if Nagaland government has to take up some actions then an FIR has to be lodged by the victims or their family members at Nagaland at the place of occurrence he said.

Z Mangaibou Minister, Francis Ngajokpa Minister are also trying to meet the victims to establish the truth.

The family members of the victim have already confirmed that molestation occurred and gang rape was attempted but they did not succeed as the two girls resisted and shouted Mangaibou has informed.

Francis also tried to meet the victims but he was unsuccessful.

He added he was not able to meet the victims.

The driver and the handyman have told him that they did not see anything as it was pitched dark inside the bus.

The United Committee of Manipur (UCM ) President Sapamcha Jadumani today said no vehicle from Manipur will pass through Nagaland.

No passenger bus or truck or whatsoever should not move towards Nagaland side he added speaking to media persons today.

It will be enforced from today itself The central government should immediately take up actions to repair national highway 53.We have lost our patience; the loot, harassment and the recent incident have made the people extremely unhappy he added.

The extortions by various organizations, harassment by all are intolerable.

Our patience is running out he added.

The centre is not sincere in its efforts at all.

The UCM had already put up the matter with the central leaders in New Delhi recently.

We will give whatever assistance we can provide to help the government to raise some money for construction of the national highway he added.

Motorcycles, normal movement of vehicle to Nagaland will not also be allowed he added.

Our identity is threatened..

We cannot move around freely and proudly he added.

So we must boycott the highway which passes through Nagaland he said.

Nobody can take away our rights and do whatever like they like with Manipuri women the statement said.

The UCM discussed the matter thoroughly.

A meeting was held yesterday.

It was inconclusive so the meeting continued today morning.

After India annexed Manipur we have been facing various problems, it took us 22 years to fight for statehood the UCM today said in a statement.

The Samata Party, Manipur has strongly condemned the barbarous and inhuman act of the miscreants by looting, molesting women and even raping two girls at the night of 5th September, 2002 at Pephema, near Kohima, Nagaland.

The Samata Party Manipur State unit has sent a fax massage in that regard to its National President Shri George Fernandes demanding prompt arrest and punishment of the miscreants and to take stern action in its capacity as a union Cabinet Minister to installed a Highway Protection Force in the two National Highway 39 and 53.The All Manipur Bar Assn strongly condemned the barbaric act of raping of two female passengers in front of the fellow passengers in a tourist by armed miscreants on NH-39 near Piphema in Nagaland recently.
