Protests galore, school kids leave class rooms to beseech for Elizabeth

Imphal, November 06: The mother of Lungnila Elizabeth and wife of GAD Minister Francis Ngajokpa has fervently appealed to the kidnappers to release her child without any harm and at the earliest.

In a statement issued to the press today, the distraught mother said that the last three days have been a nightmare and as all mothers would feel, the absence of her daughter has been unbearable.

Appealing to the kidnappers to show some heart, the mother said that her daughter was snatched from her bosom adding that it is a nightmarish experience to imagine how her little child is spending her days at the custody of her captors.

The worried mother has also appealed to all civil societies and voluntary organizations to help trace her child.

Responding to the call to stage sit-in-protests against the kidnapping of the child, students of all the schools in Imphal left their class rooms to demonstrate on the street today.

The students while strongly condemning the kidnapping of the young girl also appealed for the safe release of the Lungnila on humanitarian grounds.

Students of Paree Imom Sindam Sang Langjing, Assemblies of God School and Manipur University Student's Union also staged sit-in-protests at the premises of their respective institutions School students numbering about 2000 also took to the streets in Senapati Dist HQ and staged dharnas demanding the safe release of Lungnila.

The All Naga Students' Association of Manipur (ANSAM) while outrightly condemning the kidnapping of the child as a cowardly act stated that kidnapping young innocent children will not bring any solution.

In a statement, ANSAM president Paul Langhu urged the involved group(s)/organization (s) to be more sensible and to release the innocent child safe and sound immediately to her parents on humanitarian ground.

It also shared the pain, trauma and mental agony of the family adding that such inhuman act should never be repeated in future in any respect by any group or organization.

KIM president P Gangte in a statement termed the kidnapping of innocent child as a disgrace and regrettable.

The apex Kuki body has also appealed to the kidnappers to release the victim at the earliest before condemnation of the society at large is heaped upon them.

The Hmar Students' Association while condemning the kidnapping urged for the safe release of the girl.

It also appealed to the society and armed groups not to co-operate in this inhuman crime against the society.
