Imphal, January 05: Even though the Election Committee of the AICC has finalized the candidate list of the Congress at New Delhi yesterday the party is still unable to formally announce the list.

Divulging this to The Sangai Express today a prominent leader of the MPCC (I) said that the party is caught in a dilemma as a number of veteran Congress workers and members have been left out in the cold and a couple of corruption tainted political figures have been included in the list.

Moreover a number of political figures who switched to the Congress just on the eve of election have found favors with the high command.

A number of veteran political figures have made the cut as Congress candidates.

The list also contains the names of 13 fresh candidates.

The Congress has also decided to nominate women candidates in three Assembly constituencies i.e.Patsoi (AK Mirabai), Naoriya Pakhanglakpa (Radhapyari) and Keirao.

Former minister and prominent Congress leader Y Erabot of Wangkhei AC and Rajya Sabha MP W Angou of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa have been left in the lurch.

Angou�s wife W Leima, who was also after the Congress ticket has been left out, said the source.

MPCC (I) president O Ibobi and veteran Congress leader Rishang Keishing who have been camping at New Delhi for the last couple of days to finalize the candidate list will arrive here tomorrow.

ACC general secretary Imran Kidwai will also accompany the two leaders as a Central observer.

Tension is already brewing and there could be an explosion and anger amongst the long time Congress workers who have been given the short shrift.
