Imphal, November 15: The 5th and 6th Manipur State Film Festival awards presentation ceremony was held at Asha Cinema complex in North AOC today with Art and Culture Minister Ph Parijat as the chief guest.

In all, awards were presented in 40 categories for the two years and the award comprised of memento and cash amount.

In his brief speech, the Minister called upon the film producers and directors to make and promote films with social messages rather than relying only on the entertainment aspect.

He also announced that the State Government is making all out effort to frame a film policy under which financial support could be extended to film-makers.

The awards distribution programme organised by Manipur film Development Corporation was also graced by the presence of Art and Culture Commissioner P Bharat as functional president with reknown film-maker Aribam Syam Sharma, author/script writer MK Binodini and Thambalngoubi Devi as the guests of honour.

Chatledo Eidi of Sangai Films was declared the best feature film award for fifth edition of the festival with Makhonmani Mongsaba adjudged the best direction for the same film.

While G Kavita walked away with the best actress award the same title in male category went to RK Amarjeet as O Priyadarshini bagged the best child artiste award.

Among the award winners in the 6th edition of the festival, Cheina of Dashu Film Production was declared the best feature film with the production also fetching Oken Amakcham the best direction title.

RK Amarjeet collected second award today winning the best actor crown for his performance in Eigini Khanna as the main female performer in film Purnima was crowned with the best actress title.

Other awards conferred on the occasion include categories like best supporting actress/actor, music direction, story, art direction, cinematography, lyric, audiography, male/female playback singer, editor, make-up, jury and costume.
