Stages for M.Phil/Ph.D degree research
Stage-1: It consists of topic selection, literature review (Please refer to The Sangai Express, February 01, 02, 05 and 10, 2013 issues), research gap identification, conceptualisation, research proposal writing and preparation for presentation before research committee ( MPhil/PhD) meeting.
Stage 2: Research Implementation: It can be implemented by either :
(i) Primary method - data collection through experimentation and analysis taking help of modern computational tools. or
(ii) Secondary method - data collection through library, modern electronic devices such as internet, personal interview, oral interpretation, etc and analysis taking help of modern computational tools.
Stage 3: Research paper writing: It should be plagiarism free writing (please refer to The Sangai Express 31December, 2012 issue) and publication in peer review, high impact factor Journals.
Stage 4: Thesis writing: It should be plagiarism free writing (please refer to The Sangai Express 31, December, 2012 issue) and synopsis writing and submission to the University for examination by a board of examiners.
Stage 5: Viva voce: After receiving positive reports from the board of examiners, the University authority will fix date for viva Voce. Here the candidate needs proper coaching for defending his/her M.Phil/Ph.D work.
The scholars generally prepare power points presentation/verbal presentation for from his/her thesis without any reorganization.
In place of this, the gists of research work including strength and weakness of his/her work should be explained clearly. Further, the utility of the work done by him/her should also be made known to the public/society.
Conclusion and suggestion:
The research scholar needs to choose right supervisor/guide for his/her field of interest. From the supervisor's side, proper command over the topic of research undertaken by the scholar is needed for successful completion of the research work.
Further, regular interaction between research scholar and the guide is also required for correction/streamlining any problem cropped up while implementing the research work.
