Kangla - the ancient capital of Manipur, Kangleipak - December, 2004

The Kangla palace made of brick, next to it is the famous 'Nungjeng Pukhri'. There are a number of ancient treaties especially "sakolamlen" " chinglon Laihui" "nunglon etc which lay down the rules for the construction , worship , ceremonies relating to kangla. Kangla is a historic and sacred place to the Manipuris opened to public after 113 years when the then British Government occupied it in 1891 AD
