The small manipuri community living in Thailand celebrated Cheiraoba festival on 14 April 2010 with great enthusiasm. <
"A feast of local delicacies was prepared by Manipuri ningols for their brothers and enjoyed together with them. At the end of the festive occasion, ningols offered some small gifts to their brothers with love and respect and in return they got blessings from their brothers.
Observing such occasion shows the spirit of unity among the manipuris living in Thailand.Unity shows our identity. Some local Thai people asked about the occasion since it falls during the same days of their Songkran festival - the Thai new year (13-15 April). They were explained about Cheiraoba festival.
I feel that we should observe our traditional festival as a manipuri even though we manipuri are living in any developed or modernized country".
