Usoi Cookies presented at 10th World Bamboo Congress at Damyang Korea :: September 17th - 22nd, 2015

A leap of Usoi to International Forum : Usoi (bamboo shoots) has now from "Ooti", and "kangsu"in Manipuri traditional dish, gone to cookies at international level. "Usoi Cookies" were presented by Prof. C. Nirmala, Department of Botany, Panjab University and Prof. M. S. Bisht, Centre for Science Education, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong to the Governor of Damyang, Choi Hun Sik and to others during the World Bamboo Congress (September 17th - 22nd, 2015) at Damyang, South Korea.

Usoi cookies and many other products of bamboo shoots are being researched and promoted by Panjab University and North-Eastern Hill University with financial assistance from Ministry of Food Processing Industries and Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.

Prof. Nirmala was the Chair of the Technical Committee, 10th World Bamboo Congress, 2015 and has also been selected as a World Bamboo Ambassador from India to promote bamboo as a 'Wood and Food for 21st Century'.
