Pengba (Osteobrama belangeri) is the state fish of Manipur. It is now reportedly sold for Rs. 400 per kg, with hundreds of fish framers targetting for more production for the next Ningol Chakkouba
Pengba in addition to its superior taste, contains Omega-3 fatty acid which is highly beneficial to health.
