The State Level Gaan-Ngai celebration at Mahabali Namching village in Senapati district Manipur on January 03 2015
Organized by State Level Gaan Ngai Celebration Committee (SLGCC) under the aegis of Zeliangrong Union (AMN)

Gaan-Ngai the biggest festival of Zeliangrong is celebrated for about 5 days starting from January 03rd 2015.
Gaan Ngai is a post harvest festival. At this time the granaries are full, the landscape is dry, the whole village is free from all agricultural works, people turn to celebration, festivity and worship of God and honouring of the dead. Gaan-Ngai is dynamic in that it is not centred on the living only but the dead too are given due honour in the form of ritual farewell. Extracting of Sacred Fire, honoing(an invocation to God) and offering of holy wine to God and deities besides cultural extraganza dance, musical recital and folk songs are inseparable parts of Gaan-Ngai.
