Gaan-Ngai, the biggest festival of Zeliangrong, is celebrated on 30th January 2010 at R K Puram New Delhi at MTNL Community Hall .
It is celebrated with cultural gusto and religious fervour.
Gaan Ngai is a post harvest festival. At this time the granaries are full, the landscape is dry, the whole village is free from all agricultural works, people turn to celebration, festivity and worship of God and honouring of the dead. Gaan-Ngai is dynamic in that it is not centred on the living only but the dead too are given due honour in the form of ritual farewell. Extracting of Sacred Fire, honoing(an invocation to God) and offering of holy wine to God and deities besides cultural extraganza dance, musical recital and folk songs are inseparable parts of Gaan-Ngai.
