Imoinu was celebrated at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, among others, with attractive lightworks on 31st December, 2006. Being the last day of 2006, it was a double bonanza for the New Year's Eve revellers. Electricity department was especially requested to ensure a power-cut free night -- which was obliged. A big achievement indeed for the people of Manipur who are used to getting barely three hours of electricity in a day. Inverters/UPSs in Manipur had a field day as disused computers, appliances, television sets...crackled to life, at least for a few hour.
