Laishram Umabati Devi is a devoted and an experienced performer of Manipur Dance. She received her training from Late Padmashree Thingbaijam Babu Singh at the initial stage, and later completed the Post Graduate Diploma (Raas) from Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal. She is undergoing her advance training under Guru W. Lokendrajit Singh. She received the Young Artiste Scholarship under the Ministry of Culture, Govt, of India. She has participated in several cultural exchange programmes and performed in many national and international festivals including Cultural Festival, Gujarat, 1992, Third Asia Pacific Arts Festival, Taiwan, 2005, Biennale Bonn: Indien, Germany, 2006, Fall 2006, USA, Barbican International Theatre Event, London, 2007, Toga Festival, Japan, 2007 and Singapore Arts Festival, Singapore, 2008. She has also participated in many dance dramas viz., Virat Parva, Veer Senapati Kama, Veer Abhimanyu, Yogi Vesh, Natir Puja, Abhimanyu in Charkravyuha etc. Presently she is an active artiste of Performing Artistes Centre, Khurai.
