The Southern Star is an observation wheel in the Waterfront City at Melbourne Docklands in Melbourne, Australia. It is the only permanent observation wheel in the Southern Hemisphere and is 120 m (390 ft) high, the equivalent of a forty storey building. The wheel is similar in concept to the London Eye, which is 135 m (440 ft) high.
