Imphal, February 13, 2010:
After the recent incidents of male players assaulting match officials, act of opposing referee's decision was replicated by the females as well when NYThC, Okram Chuthek players staged walkout during a match of the 6th S Ronika Devi Memorial Junior Girls Football Tournament at Khuman Lampak main Stadium today.
The incident took place when T Ranjita netted KRYPSA, Naoremthong's equaliser against NYThC with only 20 minutes remaining from the end of the scheduled 80 minute game.
The Okram Chuthek girls claimed that the rivals' Dangmei Grace and Y chandrajini were in off-side position and obstruction of the goalkeeper resulted in Ranjita's goal from a long range attempt.
even the NYThC girls did not lodge a formal complaint to the match official they simply walked away from the ground with some commenting that ‘due to such lapses by the referees unwanted incidents take place', apparently referring to cases of assault of referees conducting men's competitions.
earlier in the match, NYThC took the lead on L sanathoi's 12th minute goal which L Ashalata equalised for KRYPSA.
even though NYThC regained the lead through S Tejibala (58th), Ranjita's equaliser for the second time on two minutes later led to the controversial end of the Group A match.
In the first match (Gr-B) played today, ESU, Wangkhei and MPSC settled for a goalless draw.
