    Nimaichand Luwang elected as MPP president unopposed

    Imphal, February 18, 2010: President of Manipur Peoplel's Party Dr Nimaichand Luwang was declared elected uncontested in the presidential election of the party.

    The scrutiny of the nomination papers for the MPP organitional election 2010 was held on February 17.Single nomination papers were filed for each of the posts of the party.

    No candidate had withdrawn their nomination papers by 3 pm today, which is the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers.

    Therefore, all the candidates including present president Dr Nimaichand Luwang were declared elected uncontested.

    However, the final annoucement of the election would be made at the meeting of Central Committee and party conference to be held on February 24, informed the party's state returning officer Laishram Jatra today.

    The vice presidents of the party elected are Dr S Priyokumar Singh, H Manisana Singh, Md Abdul Matlib, S Rajen Singh and Y Khemchand.
