    Imphal, January 03: The Tsunami Disaster Relief Committee formed on December 31 to help the victims of tsunami tidal waves triggered by undersea earthquake on December 26 last would start receiving donation from the people from January 5 onwards, informed committee convenor Leitanthem Umakanta Meetei in a statement.

    A simple function would be held on Jan 5 at Dharmashalla, Imphal to mark the occasion and the donation box would be opened everyday at 5 pm in front of the public, the statement said, adding that the donated amount would be exempted from income tax.

    Meanwhile, All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association while mourning the death of thousands of people in the recent tsunami calamity has decided to contribute Rs 5000 to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the victims.

    To discuss monetary contribution towards Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the casualties and damages caused by killer tsunami, an emergency meeting of all NSS Programme Officers of Universities, Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools of Manipur has also been convened on January 5 at 11 am at Sports Hostel No.
