Imphal, December 01 2009: Editor of Toknga daily Soubam Rajendra Kumar has resigned from the editorship and has decided to fight the by-election to Yaiskul A/C.Speaking to media persons today, S Rajendra Kumar said that he was determined to fight the by-poll in support to the ongoing people's movement against the incumbent Government.

Commenting on general assumption that Congress candidate or a candidate supported by Congress party would win the by-poll because of their muscle and money power, Rajendra Kumar expressed strong disapproval of the assumption which has the connotation that the people of Yaiskul A/C can be bought by money or other benefits.

The failure of opposition parties to field a common candidate is indicative of the fact the Congress party is also putting up a 'proxy' candidate.

If any one has sold himself/herself, he/she has no right to raise any complain when his/her master kill him/her and dub them as insurgents posthumously, Rajendra Kumar said.

The by-poll assumes extra significance as it would be an acid test for the Ibobi-led Government as the people of Yaiskul A/C would prove whether the Government is still enjoying people's support or not.

"I'm contesting the by-poll to ring out a message to the people that I strongly condemn the alleged high level of corruption, extra-judicial killings and other excesses committed by the State under Chief Minister O Ibobi", the aspiring candidate said.

He further called upon the people to shoulder their due responsibility in teaching a befitting lesson to the Ibobi-led Government by defeating the Congress candidate in the by-poll to Yaiskul Assembly constituency.
