Imphal, June 21:
A non Manipuri man who jumped into the Nambul River at the Sagoband Meino Leirak area after consuming marijuana this afternoon at around 3.35 is reported to be missing after failing to resurface again, said sources.
The victim has been identified as one Suraj Bhan Sahu (25) of Bihar presently residing at Sagolband Meino Leirak.
Sources further informed that Suraj jumped into the river saying that Nambul River was like a drain when compared with rivers in Bihar.
According to another report, the identity of the two suspected UGs who were gunned down by a combined team of 12 Assam and Manipur police commandos at Chingmei Khongnangkhong is still lying at RIMS morgue unidentified, said sources.
Post mortem on the two bodies would be conducted tomorrow, said sources adding that the bodies would be given to the Imphal Municipality for disposal if relatives or family members do not come forward and claim the bodies within the next two/three days.
Meanwhile, Leishangthem Sarat (45) of Uripok Polem Leikai who was arrested by personnel of 19 th Rajput Rifles on the night June 19 was handed over to Imphal PS last night at around 11.30, said sources.
Mention may be made here that L Sarat was arrested by the 19th Rajput Rifles' personnel from his own residence at Uripok Polem Leikai.
Sources also said that another person identified as L Gogan (45) who was picked security forces on same the night has not been handed over to the police till today.
