The State Government has started necessary preparations for the 'Queen's Baton Rally' of the Commonwealth Games which is to pass through Manipur.
To be hosted by India, the Commonwealth Games would be held at New Delhi from October 3 to 14 next year.
An official source disclosed that as finalised by the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, the Queen's Baton Rally of the Games would pass through Manipur during July 26 and 27 next year.
The matter has been communicated to the Chief Secretary DS Poonia, who is also the Nodal Officer of the Rally.

Accordingly, the Chief Secretary today chaired a meeting of the officials of the Sports Department, Deputy Commissioners and SPs in his office chamber to discuss the necessary measures to be taken up.
During the meeting, the Police Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of charting the route of the rally and other security arrangements to be put in place while the Sports Department would be finalising the number of sportspersons who will take part in the rally.
According to a tentative plan, the Queen's baton would be brought to the sacred and historic Kangla from Kohima in a helicopter on July 26 and the following day, it would be taken to Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur and Thoubal.
Discussions are also on for taking the baton to the hill districts as well.
Since 10 officials of the Indian Olympics Association are also supposed to come accompanying the Queen's baton, today's meeting had also discussed the cultural programmes to be presented in their honour as well as during the course of the rally in the State.
After Manipur, the Queen's baton would be taken to Aizawl in helicopter on July 28 .
The source further informed that in connection with the Queen's baton rally, the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee would be organising a workshop for all the Nodal Officers/Chief Secretaries at New Delhi on November 24 .
Chief Secretary DS Poonia would be representing Manipur in the said workshop which would discuss the detail programme and route of the rally.
