To enhance the existing bi-lateral ties between India and Myanmar, the Union Ministry of Defence is organising a Army Car rally from December 5 to 29 from New Delhi to Myanmar capital Yangon.
The rally will pass through Manipur on December 11.Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, a Defence source said the first joint India-Myanmar Army Care Rally is being organised to promote bi-lateral relationships between the two neighbouring countries.
The rally would be flagged off from New Delhi on December 5 and after reaching the Myanmar Capital Yangon it would return to the National capital, New Delhi, on December 29.In all 14 teams consisting of 45 members including 12 Myanmarese Army personnel would be taking part in the rally which will arrive at Imphal from Kohima on December 11.Before arriving at Imphal, Brigadier Raman Dhawan of 59 Mountain Brigade would flag off the rally again.
After reaching Yangon, the rally will again pass through Imphal on December 22/23 on the return journey.
The two neighbouring countries had also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) very recently.
On the basis of the MoU, India Government has also been supplying arms and weapons to Myanmar to help in flushing out militants of North Eastern region operating from the soil of Myanmar.
Over and above this, India has also been imparting training to Myanmarese Army and other officials even as process is underway for setting up army training team at Myanmar.
However, Myanmarese authorities have not yet given their consent to the proposal of the Indian Government for erecting a 10 km fencing along the international boundary bordering Moreh of Manipur.
