Observatory unit at GP College to witness the Transit of Venus

Imphal, May 28 2012: The Manipur Science & Technology Council (MASTEC) would set up an Observatory Unit at GP Women's College on June 6 to provide the students and the general public with an opportunity to witness the Transit of Venus across the disk of the Sun, a very rare planetary event.

According to a statement of MASTEC the event would start from 4.27 am and continue till 10.20 am.

The Council has further informed that those interested in viewing the event from home can collect solar viewer at Rs 50 each from the office of the Director Th Surendranath Singh.
