Titular King wishes people on Kwak Tanba

Titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba has greeted the people on the occasion of Kwak Tanba and prayed forpeace and prosperity of the State.
Praying for abundant wealth and peace, Utra Shanglen Sana Konung and Manipur Pandit Loishang has organised 'Kwak Tanba' ceremony at different places of Manipur.
The titular King along with amaiba and maibi band party headed towards Thangapat and performed the aged traditional ceremony of Kwak Tanba.
Saying that Kwak Tanba ceremony was earlier known as 'Loidam Kumsaba', the titular King recalled the story behind the ceremony.
According to Puya- the Royal Chronicle, he said once Nongda Lairen Pakhangba was very angry with his son Khuyou Tompok for being rude to him.
He (Pakhangba) beheaded his son.
The son then turned into Nongoubi (bird) and flew away, said Leishemba.
"After gaining conscious, Pakhangba was broken hearted as he had killed his beloved son.
Every year Pakhangba would perform ritual ceremony inside Kangla and release one Nongoubi during Mera (month) .
He would release the bird praying it to carry away all the sorrows and sufferings of his people.
The ceremony was known as Loidam Kumsaba.
Later it became to be known as Kwak Tanba," he said.
Saying that the ceremony has changed over the years, Leishemba said that the Sana Konung (Royal Palace) has been tracing and preserving the Original form of the ceremony.
The Royal Palace has been observing the ceremony on '10th of Mera' every year, he said praying for prosperity of the State and the people.
Meanwhile Manipur Pandit Loishang, Shree Shree Govindaji Temple Board and Manipur Cheirap Loishang also jointly celebrated Kwak Tanba at Mahabali.
The ceremony was held with RK Chourajit as Bar Senapati.
