Training on disease detection concludes

'District level trainings of grass root workers on disease detection and reporting of highly pathogenic avian influenza (Bird flu)' at 9 different districts of Manipur was concluded at the District Head Quarter, Chandel Wednesday.
A press note issued by Director of Vety and AH Services, Manipur said, the training programme was sponsored by Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) on the United NAtions and Govt of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries (DADF), Krishi Bhavan, New Delhi.
The training was started from July 17 at the Conference Hall, Manipur State Veterinary Council at Sanjenthong here for Imphal East and West districts and followed at the remaining 7 District HQs of the State and concluded on July 24 at Chandel, the note informed.
It stated that Dr AB Negi, Team Leader and National Project Coordinator of Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) of FAO India came as observer and visited different training places and also emphasized the need of timely animal disease detection, diagnosis and reporting for timely intervention.
Dr Ng Ibotombi Singh, Principal Investigator Disease Investigation Laboratory and Nodal Officer on Avian Influenza of Veterinary Directorate alongwith District Vety Joint Directors who got Training of Trainers (TOT) organised by FAO were the resource persons of the training programme, the note added.
It also stated that the said training programme emphasized on timely detection, diagnosis and reporting of animal disease outbreaks especially Avian Influenza by the field vets and paravets (Grass root workers) for taking up immediate disease control, containment and preventive measures by the department.
