The physically challenged children of All Manipur Mentally handicapped Persons Welfare Organisation, Mongshangei along with the staff and other members of the organisation today presented a draft of Rs 5147 to Governor Dr SS Sidhu as contribution towards relief of the tsunami disaster victims.
The humane gesture of the children who despite being handicapped themselves but still willing to share the suffering and hardships of the tsunami affected victims made the Governor emotional, said a press statement issued by the Governor’s Secretariat.
Members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Imphal also chipped with a contribution of Rs 51,000 (draft) to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund through the Governor, it added.
Similar gesture was made by Principal (Retd) of DM College of Commerce S Sanahanbi Devi who donated Rs 1000 to the PM’s fund today.
NSS Unit-I&II of Oriental College also collected Rs 2043 from the NSS volunteers, teachers and staff members for donation to the PM’s relief fund, said a press release of the Programme Officer who added that contributions would be handed over through the NSS Regional Centre, Guwahati.
NSS volunteers of Manipur Public School, Koirengei also collected Rs 2800 for contribution to the relief fund, informed a statement.
