All government employees of the state will take a mass casual leave on Wednesday, March 4, as a sign of protest against the brutal killing of Dr.Th Kishan, SDO of Kasom Khullen and his two staffs by the NSCN-IM on February 16. The alleged abduction and murder of the trio have caused much stir in the state with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder calling for various forms of agitations in protest against the murder besides demanding the state for an amicable solution to the present problem by booking the culprit as soon as possible during a public meeting on February 27.And as a part of the resolution adopted during the meeting sit-in-protests are going on at the residential gates of the 60 (sixty) members of legislative assembly (MLAs).
This decision for casual leave of all government employees on March 4, Wednesday, was also taken during a public meeting of the JAC and Apunba Lup.
It may be noted here that according to reports, March 4 is also the day the NSCN-IM set as a dateline to give its final verdict against the culprit(s) and is also the day the state government asserted it would declare the results of its enquiry into the matter.
Meanwhile, a press statement of the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of the All Manipur Trade Union Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees’ Association (AMGEO) has called upon all the government employees of the state for a mass casual leave on Wednesday, March 4, in protest against the alleged failure of the state government in implementation the 6th pay commission in the state.
It may be mentioned here that the AMTUC and AMGEO have been on an indefinite ceasework strike since November 27 last against the non-implementation of the central pay commission.
